About: The Scripps National Spelling Bee is an annual spelling bee held in Washington, D.C. during the week following Memorial Day weekend. The bee is run on a not-for-profit basis, and has been around for over 90 years. Although most of its participants are from the US, students from other countries such as The Bahamas, Canada, the People's Republic of China, India, Ghana, Japan, Jamaica, Mexico, and New Zealand have also competed in recent years. To qualify for the Scripps National Spelling Bee, a speller must win a regional competition. Please see https://spellingbee.com/parents for more information
Tyee has enrolled in the 2023 Spelling Bee Program, and will be holding a school spelling contest in early March, which will qualify one school winner to move on to the King-Snohomish County Regional competition (in Seattle, 03-26-2023 1pm)
Opens: Monday, December 5, at 9am
Closes: Monday, February 6, at 5pm or when all spots fill up, whichever comes first.
