Regular school attendance is a significant indicator of student success. According to the US Department of Education, irregular attendance can predict dropout rates more accurately than test scores. This correlation underscores broader consequences beyond academics: students who do not graduate high school are more prone to poverty, health issues, and involvement in the criminal justice system compared to their graduating peers.
By prioritizing your student’s attendance, you will be taking an important step in supporting their school success. Everyday counts.
We have noticed with the weather changing, traffic has increased around the Tyee neighborhood, causing 1st period tardies. Please be sure to leave a little earlier to ensure your student is able to get to class on time. Tardies due to traffic are not excused unless they are on a district school bus.
We understand that there may be situations where absences are necessary, such as illness or emergencies. Please notify our attendance office at Tyeeattendance@bsd405.org or call 425-456-6809 to report absences.
If your family is planning a trip, a pre-arranged absence form is required. Your student may pick one up at the attendance office or you may print one here
