Is your student interested in participating in the Scripps Spelling Bee (spelling competition)?  New this year, Tyee will be holding a school spelling bee which will qualify a school winner who will move on to the Scripps Spelling Bee King-Snohomish County Regional competition (in Seattle on Feb. 29 at Noon). The winner from the regional competition moves on to the national competition. For more information about the Scripps Bee, see https://spellingbee.com/students

Tyee’s competition is open to current Tyee students.  Our school’s competition will be in two phases:  a written exam on February 3 and the oral competition on February 10. Both will start around 4:35 pm at Tyee.  The written exam on 2/3 will determine who will advance to the oral competition on 2/10.  If your student is interested, please register him/her here http://tyeeptsa.org/Packet/Spelling%20Bee%20Competition. The Tyee Spelling Bee is free (Entrance fees are required for the school winner when the student advances to the next level).  Registration deadline is January 25

The word list for the Tyee competition is here:  http://tyeeptsa.org/Doc/Program Documents/2020_SLSL_Full_List_Words_Only.pdf  Words on this list will be used in the Tyee school competition.  Some words may also be taken from the “Two Bee” list from the “Words of Champions” list.  Advanced spellers who want to prepare in case they are the school winner and move on to Regionals can also study this longer list:  http://tyeeptsa.org/Doc/Program Documents/Words_of_the_Champions_page_numbers_FINAL.pdf
