On behalf of the Tyee PTSA Board, I want to send a warm welcome to all new and returning families joining us for the 2018-2019 school year.  With the school year starting, we ask that families:

  1. Join the Tyee PTSA.  Join Tyee PTSA, and you'll support PTSA programs at our school plus child advocacy efforts at the local, regional, state, and national levels. Register by October 1st, 2018 to guarantee receipt of a Tyee Student Directory. PTSA members also receive discounts to Wild Waves, Great Wolf Lodge, Office Depot, FedEx Office, and more!To join, fill out this form or register online at http://tyeeptsa.org/Packet/Join.  Note that PTSA memberships must be renewed annually.

  1. Donate to the PTSA’s “Tyee Bucks” campaign.  “Tyee Bucks” are the PTSA’s main source of funding.  Donations directly support:
  • Tyee field trips (e.g. Camp Orkila, 7th & 8th grade field trips)
  • Teacher grants (e.g. 8th grade vocabulary enrichment, flexible seating for 7thgrade health, T-Bird ticket prizes, etc.)
  • Tyee PTSA social events (Field Day, Neon Dance, Holiday Bazaar, Halloween Party)
  • Tyee PTSA programs (Walkabout Program, Reflections, Staff Appreciation, 8thGrade Party, Spiritwear, Volunteer Coordination)
  • Tyee PTSA clubs (Math, Coding, Geography Bee)
  • Classroom supplies & equipment
  • And more!

We recommend that families contribute $100 per Tyee student, but we welcome any donation amount you are comfortable with.  It’s easy to donate online athttp://tyeeptsa.org/Packet/Donate (if you are a PTSA member) orhttp://tyeeptsa.org/Packet/DonateGuest (if you are not a PTSA member).

  1. Volunteer at Tyee and/or with the PTSA.  Volunteering is a great way for you to further connect with the school and your student. We have many open volunteer opportunities listed here:  http://tyeeptsa.org/Packet/Volunteer  For information about all of PTSA’s programs, click here:  http://tyeeptsa.org/Program.  If there are other activities you are interested in, let us know!

  1. Read the “Tyee Times”:  The Tyee PTSA publishes an e-mail newsletter every Sunday during the school year.  Read the newsletter to keep up to date with PTSA, school and community events.  All Tyee families automatically receive the Tyee Times, so check your junk mail folder if it’s not in your Inbox.  Note that Susan Thomas sends out a weekly Principal newsletter as well, usually on Saturdays.

We are looking forward to a great school year!  If you have further questions about any of the above, contact me at president@tyeeptsa.org.

Thank you,

Joann Oshima, Tyee PTSA President
